PEDIATRIC CARE & OBESITY MANAGEMENT

Medical Philosophy

All of us feel strongly that in order to provide the best possible medical care, a partnership must be forged between the physician and the family. We practice traditional medical care as outlined by the American Academy of Pediatrics. We support the AAP’s immunization guidelines and believe all children have the right to be protected from preventable infectious diseases, with rare medical exceptions. In addition, we support all efforts to reduce the use of medically unnecessary antibiotics.

We embrace the “art” of medicine, and feel that patients and families should help guide medical care. We support the use of alternative medicine as an adjunct to traditional medical care when appropriate.

Well Care

Children's Wellness Center follows the well-child visit guidelines promoted by the American Academy of Pediatrics. We recommend frequent check-ups during infancy and yearly beginning at two years of age. We believe these visits are important to assess growth and development, as well as to offer advice regarding safety and emotional issues that are an integral part of a healthy childhood. We see patients from birth through 21 years of age. Well visits can be made up to three months in advance.

Sick Care

Children's Wellness Center realizes that one of the most anxiety-provoking roles as a parent is providing care to an ill child. All efforts will be made to accommodate ill children within 24 hours when appropriate. Advice will be available from one of our skilled office staff during office hours, and patients will have access to physician advice 24/7 if necessary.

Should your child or newborn require hospital care, we have privileges at Northside Hospital. We recommend your child to be seen at a Children's Healthcare of Atlanta hospital or satelite location for emergency or after-hours care.
